Fruity Shrikhand for a healthy, happy Diwali

4 cups  yogurt , 1/2 cup sour cream, 2 cups sugar, 1/2 cup coarsely powdered almonds,

1 tsp cardamom powder, 7-8 strands of saffron soaked in about 1tbsp warm water, mixed berries (strawberries, raspberries, blueberries etc)


Hang the yogurt in a clean muslin cloth over a container or in the sink for about 12 hours.
In a bowl mix the hung yogurt with  sour cream and sugar.
Add the saffron, cardamom and the almonds. Chill in the refrigerator.  Just before serving top with the mixed berries and swirl gently. Lovely!
