Here’s a very funny review for Ajab Prem ki Gazab Kahani from one of our AmaraMoms members- Puneeta Kalra from New York. Her comments had me chuckling away, and I cannot wait for her next review on Love Aaj Kal.
Here goes in her words:
How can a movie like APKGK be a hit? Is it that I belong to the class and not the mass or I am too old for this cutesy mushy stuff…..This movie is so full of clichés that at some point you wonder how a great filmmaker like Raj Kumar Santoshi can not realize it.
There is Prem (Ranbir Kapoor) a typical young good for nothing lad (ogle worthy for an aunty like me) and Jenny (Katrina Kaif) a serious mature girl. And surprise! They both stammer when they are emotional….how sweet is that! Of course, Jenny doesn’t know that and thinks he’s mocking her so he gets a ‘nice tight slap’ till she discovers it’s really true which is ‘oh quite by accident’ since she is shopping for vegetables in an obvious movie set ( because if they had sabzi markets like that I would give up my life here and land up in India in a heartbeat ). Ok, did I lose my train of thought here………well so did the movie and it goes on in the same clichéd way till about 40 mts at which point I silently but none the less swiftly found the exit.
Now Love Aaj Kal…that’s another story, I can go on and on about how Imtiaz knows what he is doing and can get you so romantic….but let me save that for next time…….
