Love Aaj Kal- a rocking movie!

November 17th, 2009

A straight from the heart review of Love Aaj Kal by our straight shootin’ AmaraMoms member Puneeta K!

If I had gone to see this movie alone or with my husband, I could have attributed the tears and deep intense emotion to what’s commonly known as the ‘wrong time of the month syndrome’…..but the fact is I went with 3 other girlfriends and it is too much to expect all of us to be caught in the same cycle time. So basically it was the beautifully portrayed relationships on Love Aaj Kal that had us sighing and mooning over Saif / Deepika and Saif/ Harleen…The movie as the title indicates is of two love relationships set in 2 different times, one in the yesteryears of our parents’ time and one of the youth today.
Imtiaz Ali has beautifully crafted this movie using sepia overtones to show the past and vivid global sights for the present. The Saif/ Deepika romance is nice, realistic and fun….but Saif as the younger Rishi Kapoor ( a sardar) is enough to get me to accept that some men like to keep their hair long and wrapped…..and Harleen (did you know that she is in real a Brazilian model!!!!) who is so innocent and simple, now their romance had me in love with love all over again. The ‘thoda thoda pyaar’ song had me drifting back to my childhood days when I would go for family weddings and the djs of the world had not corrupted the purity of sangeets. And I felt for them like I was there at that time and prayed for them as I would for anyone I know. I highly recommend this movie, with your spouse if they are of a romantic nature or with girlfriends if you have been married to a man like me who can interpret a romantic drama as either a horror show or comedy.
All in all LAK is very viewable and the music is rocking……….
