Living near the city all this time
Yet no sighting of a single sea lion!
Pier 39 I promised my kids
Bundle up for rain and cold we did
There was no rain, hurrah hurray
But the cold is surely here to stay
Fisherman’s Wharf, we’ve finally reached
Park on Leavensworth, or park on Beach
We jostled through the crowd, the people galore
Wandered in and out of each and every store
“Write your name in rice”, “2 tshirts for the price of one”
So touristy, yet so much fun!
Finally at Pier 39 we arrive… to find the sea lions are not nigh
Migrated they have, for the winter season
To come back again, we now have a reason!
Let’s eat, we’re starving, my children cry
So many types of food to try!
My son chose corn dogs, my daughter fried shrimp
While I dove into a bowl of spicy chowder – not for wimps!
Then we walked around to see the view
GG Bridge and Alcatraz seem so near you!
Our last stop was the Ghiradelli Chocolate Factory
Sweet and tasty!
Peppermint bark, caramel, pecan and cocoa
Enough choices to make you loco!
Smiling and full and happy as clams (no pun intended)
We headed for our car after contemplating a tram
No traffic was the icing on the cake
And perfect our lovely outing did make!
