Kids need not be so honest!

January 14th, 2010

We are always telling our kids to be honest and truthful. My advice: don’t insist that they be so all the time!

My younger son, barely 5, likes to play the ‘tabla’ as he calls it, on my,ahem, bottom. Which is fine and cute and all that usually….Yesterday, he decided to play the ‘tabla’ (drums in hindi) on his dad’s derriere. No sooner had he started, that he exclaimed loudly, ” Oh wow! When I play the ‘tabla’ on papa, it  feels like a ‘tabla’. Mama’s feels like bags full of jello”!!!! I couldn’t believe my ears, and needless to say, spent the rest of the day trying to tighten up my er, ‘tabla’.

Well to add insult to injury, this morning, my older asked me, ” Are you having another baby?”. I nearly fainted. He continued,” Your tummy is beginning to look like there’s another baby in there”. I am going to take a very long time to recover from this honesty, and never again, am I telling them to be honest at all times!!
