“Ishqiya” se Ishq!

AmaraMom’s Bollywood critic, Puneeta Kalra,  is back after her long vacation to India. She’s back with loads of stories about her holiday- which I hope she will share on AmaraMoms soon. In the meantime, here’s her take on the new Hindi movie “Ishqiya”, which after reading her comments, I would love to see!

A Vishal Bhardawaj production with Naseer, Arshad and Vidaya Balan…of course I was going to see it and am so happy I did.

A brilliant cast, a brilliant story , what more to ask for. Naseer & Arshad are a mama bhanja pair of thieves who get themselves embroiled in activities beyond their league. They find themselves staying at a widow’s house (Vidya Balan) who is not as simple as she portrays herself to be. Aah…the action in Gorakpur, the UP dialect, the comic timing and of course the hilarity and emotions of uncle and nephew falling for the same woman.

Will not give away the story, do watch it. Arshad is completely in his element as a small town ‘shaana’ stud. Naseer is amazing as usual and Vidya Balan is meant to play such roles (especially if she is made to wear traditional clothes…sexy glam babe is just not her forte)

The lovemaking scene with Arshad and Vidya is as raw and erotic as can be, the small town extra marital affair of a small town ka babu is hilarious to see.

As first time director Abhishek Chaubey has surpassed many other renowned filmmakers.
