Our wakeful Bollywood reviewer, Puneeta Kalra watched Wake Up Sid, with special focus upon the new kid on the block- Ranbir Kapoor 4 on Puneeta K’s rateometer! She , of course, omits to mention 4 out of ? Bottom line though, she liked the movie, the man, the music etc very much!

What is it with Hindi Cinema these days, have the filmmakers matured or has the audience matured…..Not your typical stories with a well known starcast, haunting music, and slick productions….Bollywood has finally grown up along with Sid.

Ranbir Kapoor (utterly delectable boy…I feel like a cradle snatcher viewer) is Sidharth aka Sid. Rich, spoilt, young with no ambitions……he meets with Konkana Sen at a party who is an older (27 yrs is old…ha ha) independent woman. The movie is really about him waking up to life and what have you. Ranbir gets thrown out of his house for being self centered, goes to shack up with Konkona  who is working in a magazine as Rahul Khanna’s assistant, its her dream job, Rahul is her dream man and Ranbir is this younger immature friend she needs to look out for. Relationships are explored, growing up and facing reality is discovered. Music is awesome (my current fav is ek tara) and watching Ranbir without his shirt is always a welcome sight for this amma.

If I were a film critic and I had to rate it….would give it a 4. (on that note maybe I should start my own rating system)
