What Holi is complete without Thandai, a traditional drink made of milk, ground seeds and nuts and lots of spices! Nothing like a cool drink after being covered head to toe in all the colors of the rainbow! Recipe below.
Take 15 almonds, 2 tsp anise seeds, 8 cardamom pods, peppercorns to taste, 2 tsp khus khus (poppy seeds), 2 tsp cumin seeds, about 1 cup each milk and water
Grind all spices. Grind almonds separately. Mix together thoroughly in a jug. Stir in water and milk. Strain to remove all pieces of spices. Serve cold / over ice.
