The Multicultural Magic of New York City

New York is truly a magnet for multiple cultures; a veritable melting pot of communities, smells, languages and flavors. “Chinese Mirch” is a “Chindian” (for the uninitiatied, that means Chinese/Indian) restaurant, just blocks from my sister’s house. Her neighborhood, Murray Hill, is lovingly known as “Curry Hill”. See why

Curry Hill is proud host to Charlie’s Paan Shop, and Om Threading (my favorite), which proudly flaunts (hard to see in the picture) an Om sign! True, other cities, notably in California, are very reflective of several cultures and communities living side by side, but it is so ‘in your face’ in New York city, due to the density and population. I loved every moment of it!
