Here’s the yellow mung (moong) daal recipe (comfort food rules!) to complement the yummy gobhi recipe below on Amara Moms!
1 cup mung daal
3 cup water
1 tsp haldi / turmeric
1/2 onion, finely chopped
fresh cilantro, chopped
First boil the water, then add the soaked lentils (throw away the water in which they were soaked), turmeric and salt. Bring to a boil, then lower to a simmer till cooked and thick as shown in the photo. It shouldn’t take more than about 10-15 mins. In a small pot, heat a tablespoon of the ghee and add the cumin seeds. When they sizzle up, throw in the onion and let fry till the onion begins to turn a golden hue. Stir this into the lentils. Garnish with green cilantro, and a chilli or two if you wish. Enjoy with rice!!
