From me to my kids: a big thank you for bringing enduring love into our lives; for gathering the family closer: cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents; for filling our days, weeks and years with fun and happiness and giving us lovely, lovely memories to cherish. (It’s a miracle how we, parents, forget the mountains of laundry, the streeeeeetching of funds, the agonizing over last minute homework assignments etc etc!)
My love for my kids is ginormous (coined by my kids) and vocal, and my love for my mother is deep, quiet, mostly unexpressed, and bottomless.
She is the only one who will accept me as I am 100%, listens to my nonsense with patience, cooks my favorite foods with much love when I visit her, chides me for bringing her expensive presents- AND tells me to be patient with my kids and to enjoy motherhood (exhausting as it may be)- because you know, the kids shall grow up way too fast.
She loves my kids unconditionally- even when they are at their most horrid behavior, listens to their endless and repetitive stories with a smile on her face, NEVER hurries them and feeds them endlessly!
Yes- kids are hard to raise (as were my sister and me for my parents)- lego bricks poking me every time I try to relax on the couch or the bed, noisy homes and messy kitchens, but then, I love listening to their take on music, sports, and how much they ‘lub’ me (as my younger one says famously). They simply make me and the home happier.
I learn so much from my mother – still! She tells me to focus on the MOST important things-including me and my career, the family and to be supremely happy with what I have now- simple wisdom, which, of course, I forget quite easily, till she reminds me again in her gentle manner…ahhhh, the patience of my mom is unparalleled!
On that note, here’s wishing all of you many happy years of motherhood, and daughterhood! Happy Mother’s Day.

This is so sweet and what a great tribute to Mother’s Day!
